REVIEW
This is a very enjoyable grade A- game. It is worth more than it cost and I will play it again. The game hooked me very early and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved playing the areas in the game with the Cursed Mummy character. Buy yourself a copy.
At its heart, the game is a classic exploration based Adventure game in 3D format. It has traditional adventure game features like exploring, secondary objectives, talking with people to find things out, and visiting areas more than once for new purposes. In addition the game has a health bar and enough fighting and dangerous moves to earn a solid Action game rating. It has almost all the features of a good Tomb Raider game lacking only the complex gamepad control requirements of Tomb Raider.
The only drawback the game has is a very poor save procedure (see below). Normally, I like to play without cheat codes as much as I can. But the save structure meant I had to repeat areas so many times when I died, that I gave up and bought a Game Shark and used the infinite health cheat. The game was worth the combined price. Next time I will play more without the cheat and I will complete the secondary objectives.
The scenery is excellent and easy to see. Conversations are done via text, which usually stays on the screen until you press the action button to move on. Movement using the gamepad is smooth, steady, accurate and easy to master. The puzzles are primarily exploration based instead of intellectual and are very enjoyable. Most of the time the game is pretty linear - you know where to go next with minimal problems. Check the notes in your inventory menu or talk to Imhotep who is usually in the Sun Shrine if you don't know what to do.
