Mission Impossible Review

I really can't recommend this game. I rented it and found it to be primitive and not intuitive.

The character's moves are very limited compared to those in an advanced game like Tomb Raider. Basically only run, jump, shoot and action. The direction of the moves was strange in that the direction the character moved was based on the direction the camera was pointing, not the direction the character was pointing. So when the camera was looking at the character's left side, and I pushed up, the character turned right. Then the camera angle often changed confusing things even more.

Aiming the weapon didn't really make much sense. I couldn't tell if I was hitting the enemy or if it just wasn't having any affect. When an enemy did fall, I was surprised as often than not. There is an aim mode but that didn't seem to work a lot better and isn't much fun anyway. Other action button events were equally mysterious. There was no user feedback that they were or were not working.

The quick save feature apparently only works within a level and doesn't write the data to the memory card. There certainly were no saved games when I turned the console off and restarted. Maybe if I had ever managed to complete a level, a full save would have taken place. That appeared to be the case using the level passwords. But it was too boring to test.

If you do want to play Mission Impossible there are at least three walk throughs available on the web. One is at Game Revolution. Or you can just search for +"Mission Impossible" +cheat via the Alta Vista search engine. There are several cheat codes which are entered as passwords but not one that allows infinite life. If there had been, I might have tested longer.
