Chemicus ReviewVideo Games help menuSciFiOne main menu Chemicus was loaned to me and I really can't recommend it. I found it boring and eventually quit. Chemicus is an educational adventure game. As in a regular adventure game, the player exlpores a large area, locating rooms and "puzzles" and picking up things to solve the puzzles. In this case the rooms were labs of sorts and the puzzles were chemistry based. Even though I am a chemist, few of the puzzles were obvious to me, and when I had figured out what to do, it was sometimes difficult to make it work. It was also never logical as to why I should go to one location next instead of another. Players also pick up knowledge chips. These they are supposed to read to learn chemistry. Hopefully they would also clue the player in as to what was supposed to be done with the pick ups. But the knowledge base was encyclopedic in structure instead of being a lecture or linear. The educational aspect would have been more effective if there was a short blurb with each object listing it's common and possible chemistry uses. I certainly would have had trouble figuring out on my own what to do with a bicycle spoke. Chemicus comes with a sort of hint based walk through and there is a complete walk through at gameboomers.com.
