BloodRayne ReviewVideo Games help menuSciFiOne main menu February 2005, Grade F. This game was included in the Lights Out package along with Clive Barker's Undying when I purchased American McGee's Alice. It is a third person shooter so I gave it a try. My computer was a 1 GHz 2004 iBook with 0.75 GB of RAM, a half full 40 GB HD and Mac OS 10.3.7. All of this is more than the minimum system requirements. The two disk installation took a long time. When I ran the game, the intro screens did not display properly and I could not figure out how to bypass them. The game screens displayed properly but they were a bit too dark even with the game's internal brightness at maximum. But the real problems were in character control and save. Saving was only from the start of the level. You can activate Save any time, but you are just saving the start of the level again. That seemed pointless. Character control is the standard WSAD with steering via the mouse but it locked up repeatedly. I would run the character around a bunch or shoot some monsters and steering would lock up for a while. All I could move would be forward backward and sideways left and right. Eventually it would return to normal. All I can guess is the computer hardware could not keep up with the demands. I was going to try it on a more powerful computer, but without a good Save, I didn't see any point.
