WARNING! I really cannot recommend this season for viewing. The show has degenerated from dramatic action adventure in the first season to melodramatic action angst this season. The result is a frustrating 22 hour movie with an unsatisfying, unfinished climax.

5 05 83 A- No Place Like Home ** Giles opens the magic shop successfully. While dealing with a monk killing unnameable demon, Buffy learns Dawn is a supernatural key inserted in her life. A pivotal episode. 2000

5 06 84 B- Family Tara's family shows up to take her home and she worries her friends won't accept her when she becomes a demon on her birthday. Turns out it was a family hoax to control the girls and the gang would have accepted her anyway. 2000

5 07 85 B Fool For Love * After a vampire stakes her, Buffy asks Spike how he killed two slayers. Flashbacks tell the story - he succeeded because they wanted to die. Spike ends up consoling Buffy because her mom needs a CAT scan. 2000

5 08 86 D+ Shadow Buffy's mom Joyce has a brain tumor. A nameless demon, Glory, makes a monster snake to find Dawn. Buffy kills it of course. (Are we having fun yet? - NO!) 2000

5 09 87 B Listening To Fear Joyce, slightly out of it from the tumor, is in danger from an extraterrestrial demon summoned to kill insane people by the intern who is cleaning up messes Glory leaves behind. 2000

5 10 88 C- Into The Woods Buffy learns about Riley and his vampire "girlfriend." It's painfully downhill from there. Riley goes off with the army. Xander tells Anya he loves her. Joyce's surgery went well. 2000

5 11 89 B+ Triangle Willow and Anya feud over Xander during a spell and release a giant troll - Anya's ex-boyfriend. Dawn overhears talk about her and the key. 2001

5 12 90 B Checkpoint * The watchers council arrives acting nasty with info on Glory but won't talk until Buffy passes their unnamed test. That is until she tells them to shove it. Glory is a god. 2001

5 13 91 B Blood Ties * Dawn figures out she is the key, goes over the top unhappy, runs away and ends up with Glory who still doesn't get it but plans to "eat" Dawn anyway. The team interrupts and Willow teleports Glory away. 2001

5 14 92 C- Crush After a train of dead people shows up, Drusilla tries to convert Spike again but the main result is Buffy learns he loves her and they have a big fight. 2001

5 15 93 B I Was Made To Love You A robot girl comes to town looking for her boyfriend, the guy who made her. Good show until the very end when Buffy finds her mom dead. Bad move Joss. Since I can't trust him, this season of Buffy will be the last Joss Whedon product I watch. 2001

5 16 94 D- Body, The Everyone deals with the Joyce's death in their own way. It was well done, but why would I want to watch this? 2001

5 17 95 D Forever * Dawn wants to resurrect Joyce. Glory learns the key is human. 2001 04.17

5 18 96 B Intervention * Spike is seen with his robot Buffy. Glory thinks he is the key. The gang thins Buffy has flipped. But Spike doesn't reveal who the key is. 2001 04.24

5 19 97 D- Tough Love ** Glory thinks Tara is the key and sucks her brain back to childhood. Willow gets mad and uses dark magic on Glory - that's good, the rest is boring. Buffy drops out of school Glory finds out about Dawn. 2001 05.01

5 20 98 C+ Spiral ** On the run, the crusaders attack and injure Giles. Holed up in an old gas station they learn the purpose of the key. Ben, called to help Giles, turns into Glory, kills the crusaders and runs off with Dawn. 2001 05.08

5 21 99 D Weight Of The World * Willow wakes Buffy from a catatonic state by entering her dream. Glory struggles to contain Ben. 2001 05.15

5 22 100 D+ The Gift ** Well that sucked. Terrible episode, terrible season. The team takes on Glory and wins but a twerp demon bleeds Dawn and opens the gate anyway. Buffy sacrifices herself to close the gate and save Dwan. Death is Buffy's gift. 2001 05.22
